Bodega Bay, CA

If you find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, a fun little road trip is to head north on Hwy 1 to the small town of Bodega Bay. Many of you will be familiar with Bodega Bay because of it’s Hollywood history. This small town is where Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic movie The Birds was filmed with Tippi Hedren.

Point Arena Lighthouse

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I’m obsessed with lighthouses. There is something so eerie, mystical and ruggedly beautiful about them. The Point Arena Lighthouse in Northern California is no exception.

Yosemite Valley

I have visited many of the major U.S. National Parks, but I have to say that Yosemite National Park will always hold a special place in my heart. It may be because I have many childhood through current memories here but it is also because of its exquisite beauty.

Whenever I enter into the park, it never fails to take my breath away. One of Yosemite’s iconic views is entering through the South Gate and driving up to Tunnel View (below) which offers a breathtaking moment.

Pioneer Village | Yosemite, CA

The next time you find yourself near the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite, take a moment to seek out the little hidden gem tucked in the nearby woods ~ Pioneer Village.

This quaint area was created from structures that were located throughout the park over different eras and they were moved together to create this history center to honor the past. The grounds are gorgeous and the structures are beautifully preserved.

Enjoy a quick winter stroll through Pioneer Village.

Ok, ok…that might be the closest I ever get to a Hollywood script but Mendocino certainly is no stranger to the limelight of Hollywood. Many movies have been filmed in and around this charming town such as The Karate Kid, Overboard, Dying YoungSummer of ’42 and so many more, with the iconic movie filmed here being East of Eden starring James Dean.
