A Sneak Peek at Gateway Canyons Resort

I thought I would give you all a quick sneak peek of an extraordinary resort I recently stayed at called Gateway Canyons located in Gateway, Colorado. This resort is the vision of John Hendricks, the founder of Discovery Communications (Discovery Channel). John has managed to create a rich man’s playground in the middle of what looks like God country with stunning landscape, a luxury resort, an adventure center, car museum, driving school, on-sight helicopter, curiosity seminars and so much more.

I will be posting a full resort write-up with specific details on all of the above very soon but here is a little tease of what you’ll see.

The accommodations…

The activities…

The spa and pool…

And so much more! Stay tuned!!

Sightseeing: Las Vegas, NV

Remember the days when Las Vegas was all glitz and glamour? The Rat Pack, Marilyn, the Mob…and all those great neon signs luring you into sin city. The Rat Pack, Marilyn and the Mob might be long gone, but those neon signs live on!

If you’re in the Las Vegas area and you feel like taking a break from the ringing bells and crowds, a fun excursion is a trip over to the Neon Museum Boneyard. The Neon Boneyard is an outdoor collection, a graveyard according to some, of the original landmark neon signs that used to grace the strip in its hay-day. The museum has refurbished a few of the signs and they once again stand tall and are displayed around the Vegas strip. The museum provides tours and it’s a fun stroll through the boneyard to explore these vintage signs and how they relate to the history of Las Vegas.

Washington | Seattle: Pike Place Market

There are farmer’s markets and then there is Seattle’s Pike Place Market ~ this is no ordinary farmer’s market! As one of Seattle’s most famous landmarks since 1907, this bustling market offers a plethora of fresh fish, meats, produce, flowers, sweets, quirky merchandise and so much more. From the moment you arrive you’re on sensory overload…the people, the magnitude of choices, and the sumptuous smells draw you in and hold you spellbound.

The market is a true resource for locals and restaurant chefs alike but has also become a huge tourist attraction. So much so, that the market actually offers formal Pike Place Market Tours. One of the main reasons for all this attention is due to the Pike Place Fish Market which been immortalized through media attention and Hollywood for their entertaining fish tossing techniques and antics. Groups of people will crowd around the fish market waiting to see a fish toss, and then continue on their merry way afterwards.

The market is surrounded by rows of independent deli’s, pastry shops, and restaurants offering delicious nibbles. This is also where you will find the original Starbucks coffee shop founded in 1971. It’s worth it to walk by just to see the enormous line of people who want to say they purchased a cup of coffee there….I have to say I don’t get it but it’s fun to see.

Aside from all the food offerings, there are also several floors of independent stores offering vintage and unique merchandise. All I can say, is plan on spending several hours here because you will get sucked into the energy and excitement of this amazing Seattle attraction.
